Furnishing

Across all of our projects we aim to provide interesting and inspiring spaces. As part of this process we are often required to deliver unique finishes and fittings to achieve a particular look and feel or meet a client aspiration. PLD have the expertise required to design bespoke joinery and fittings, working closely with craftsman and contractors to ensure these are delivered to the highest standard.

Our Clients

We work and collaborate with large international companies, developers, family estates and private individuals. For all our clients we approach our work with the same passion, creativity, care and attention to detail. We take time to understand our clients, the end-user, their processes, the site and the context aligning ideas, values, time and cost.

Design

We focus on high quality materials, intelligent use of space, incorporating nature and light to deliver the best possible solution for our clients.

Each design is tailor made to the context, brief, budget and needs of the client, rather than working to a particular style. All aspects of a design are connected, so we design holistically to create a complete solution. All scales are considered from site context down to furniture and fittings.

Detail

Attention to detail and well-designed interfaces with beautiful, robust, inventive, thoughtful and sustainable materials allow the designs we create to feel good as well as look good. High quality natural materials and use of colour are important, carefully selected for their visual and tactile qualities to offer calming or mood boosting effects.

Communication

For PLD to be a valued team member communication with our clients, consultants and collaborators is key. We listen, learn and remain engaged throughout to ensure the best possible outcome.

We use mixed media to present our ideas, combining physical and digital methods as required to communicate look and feel as effectively as possible.

Collaboration

Throughout our projects we work closely with a range of consultant disciplines to provide complete and well considered designs. At PLD we work closely with skilled craftsmen and craftswomen to tailor products or design bespoke pieces to meet specific client needs. We work alongside these artisans throughout the design process to ensure we achieve the quality of craftsmanship that your project deserves.

Handover

Our involvement does not end at the design. Adding finishing touches, and space dressing to further improve or promote the spaces we create is seen as a key part of the service we offer. We take pride in being an ongoing point of contact, providing support where possible and helping clients to settle into their new spaces.

Sustainable, Conscious, Ethical Design.

At PLD we promote sustainability and socially positive design. We understand the impact that the built environment has on the planet and the occupiers of the spaces we create. Clients, designers and the many people involved in the industries that supply the construction sector all have an impact. Using guidelines for wellness and sustainable thinking along with ethical and sustainable sourcing, we work with our clients and collaborators to ensure these are an essential part of the design process.

Our sustainable design approach covers, net zero, circular, retrofit and biophilic design practices. The environmental impact of our designs and materials we use are considered at all stages and adjusted to aim that all elements are high quality, reusable and responsibly sourced.

We want our designs to be flexible and with a focus on health and wellness. Creating spaces that allow us to feel connected and engaged.

PLD use sustainable methods such as biophilic design to instigate exploration. Bringing nature in can reduce stress, improve cognitive function and creativity and improve our overall well-being. A space becomes alive and radiates when natural elements like wood and water are introduced.

Our aim is to create spaces that are delightful to our clients but also to those who use these spaces on a daily basis, contributing positively to mood, wellbeing and the wider social context.
